Job Purpose

  • To lead and elevate the Marketing & Business Development function by building a strong, professional, and growth-focused team. This role will drive expansion across domestic and global markets, strengthen customer relationships, and unlock new opportunities in segments such as Railways, Marine, Compressors, Pumps, and Heavy-duty Engine Applications.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing & Business Development

  • Develop and implement a formal marketing & sales strategy aligned with organisation’s growth ambition.
  • Identify and penetrate new industrial segments across domestic and international markets (Railways, Marine, Engine Manufacturers, Compressors, Pumps, Purifiers, Earthmovers, etc.)
  • Reduce dependence on promoter relationships by building sustainable client partnerships.
  • Re-engage and revive past customers.

Customer Acquisition & Market Expansion

  • Expand the current base of over 20 major customers to a diversified portfolio across geographies including North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, and Far East.
  • Institutionalize customer management processes, CRM discipline, and structured follow-ups.
  • Lead participation in global exhibitions, industry associations, OEM interactions, and international marketing events.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Build and mentor a professional marketing & sales team.
  • Introduce modern marketing processes, performance metrics, reporting structures, and customer engagement tools.
  • Drive a cultural shift toward accountability, documentation, transparency, and proactive market engagement.

Commercial & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, production planning, and finance teams to ensure accurate costing, timely delivery, and strong customer satisfaction.
  • Support promoters and senior leadership in strategic decision-making, market prioritization, pricing, and margin improvements.
  • Strengthen market intelligence systems covering competition, pricing trends, customer requirements, and global demand shifts.

Brand, Systems & Professionalization

  • Redefine organisation’s brand positioning as a global, professional, engineering-driven company.
  • Implement structured marketing systems—dashboards, MIS, KPIs, and performance scorecards.
  • Promote organisation’s product strengths: bronze components, railway spares, bimetal/trimetal bearings, and specialized engineering components.

Key Skills & Competencies

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong understanding of engineering components or industrial manufacturing businesses.
  • Expertise in OEM marketing, international business development, and technical sales.
  • Ability to translate product capabilities into customer value propositions.
  • Competence in market mapping, pricing strategy, tendering, and global account management.

Leadership & Behavioural Competencies

  • High energy, “builder” mindset.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with international and domestic customers.
  • Ability to mentor and uplift a legacy team with limited formal training.
  • Comfortable operating in a promoter-driven environment undergoing transformation.

  • Well-developed communication, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to drive change in a traditional workforce.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Engineering or Business; MBA in Marketing preferred.
  • 20–30 years of experience in B2B/Industrial/Manufacturing marketing (engineering components, auto components, bearings, heavy machinery, critical components or related industries preferred).
  • Proven track record in building a marketing function from scratch in a mid-sized industrial setup.
  • Experience dealing with OEMs, technical product sales, and long-cycle industrial customer acquisition.
  • Preference for someone with Railways experience.
