Job Purpose:
- The executive is responsible for raw material procurement, inventory management, storage, and distribution within the company, ensuring that materials are sourced efficiently, stored safely, and distributed timely to support the operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management:
- Lead end-to-end procurement of bulk raw materials (chemicals) from domestic & international suppliers.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure cost optimization, supply assurance, and risk mitigation.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure the best pricing, quality, & delivery, Negotiate contracts and agreements for long-term value creation.
- Conduct market analysis to forecast material requirements and trends.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers.
Inventory & Warehouse Management:
- Monitor stock levels, conduct regular audits, and implement measures to minimize wastage and obsolescence.
- Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring materials are stored safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Implement efficient storage systems and procedures to optimize space and handling.
- Implement and maintain safety protocols to prevent accidents and incidents.
Logistics & Import/Export Operations:
- Oversee global logistics, including sea/air freight, customs clearance, and CHA coordination.
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, duty optimization, and documentation.
- Manage bulk chemical transportation, hazardous material handling, and incoterms compliance.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team.
- Collaborate with Production, Finance, Legal, and Regulatory teams to align procurement with business goals.
- Drive digital transformation in procurement processes (SAP analytics).
Risk Management & Cost Control:
- Monitor market trends, geopolitical risks, and price fluctuations in chemical raw materials.
- Implement inventory optimization strategies (JIT, safety stock management).
Trading Exposure (Preferred but Not Mandatory):
- Experience in chemical trading, third-party sourcing, or merchant trading is a plus.
Qualifications & Experience :
- Engineering background (Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial) with an MBA in Supply Chain or Operations.
- Candidates with a background in Chemistry or any other discipline may also be considered, provided they have relevant experience in the procurement and supply chain.
Past Experience
- 15+ years in chemical procurement, bulk material sourcing, alternate sourcing, and international logistics.
- Extensive experience in bulk chemical procurement, global logistics, import/export procedures, and CHA (Custom House Agent) handling is a must.
- Experience in trading would be an added advantage
- Expertise in import documentation (BOE, BL, COO), customs compliance, and duty savings.
- Knowledge of hazardous chemical logistics & safety regulations (IMDG, IATA, ADR).
- Proficiency in ERP/SAP, procurement analytics, and digital tools.
