Vice President Operations- Technical

Job Purpose

    • The executive would be providing strategic leadership and direction overseeing all the seven manufacturing sites of the organization. He would play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the organization’s manufacturing division, driving operational excellence and quality, fostering innovation along with delivering sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate state-of-the-art technology and digitalization to drive business growth.
  • Anticipate the impact of emerging technologies such as IoT, Industry 4.0, AI, and others, evaluate their relevance to various business entities, and develop strategies for implementation to achieve business advantages and establish market leadership.
  • Oversee Knowledge Management initiatives.
  • Plan, supervise, and manage the training and support function for all IT applications in collaboration with other IT stakeholders and business units.

Strategy and Development

  • Develop and communicate a clear operational strategy aligned with the company’s overarching goals and objectives.
  • Provide visionary leadership to guide the transformation of the operations function, fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to align operational strategies with broader company initiatives.

Multi-Location Manufacturing Leadership:

  • Provide dynamic leadership to multi-location manufacturing plants housing Extrusion and injection molding units, ensuring consistent execution of operational strategies.
  • Foster a cohesive operational culture, where best practices are shared, and operational standards are uniformly upheld.
  • Drive cross-site collaboration to optimize resource allocation, production scheduling, and quality assurance efforts.
  • To form a think tank with the CXOs (CHRO, CFO, CMO) and to support management in defining the mission, vision and goal of organization.

Operational Excellence Promotion:

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and waste elimination across manufacturing and distribution processes.
  • Cultivate a culture of operational excellence by championing lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and innovative thinking.
  • Initiate and lead cross-functional projects to implement process enhancements and drive efficiency gains.

KPI Monitoring and Data Analysis:

  • Develop and track performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for performance optimization.
  • Utilize data-driven insights for strategic decision-making and drive operational improvements.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Uphold compliance with relevant regulations, quality standards, safety protocols, and environmental requirements.
  • Drive a culture of quality consciousness and safety awareness throughout the operations team.

Supply Chain Management

  • Lead the strategic oversight of the supply chain with a strong emphasis on distribution, production planning, logistics, dispatch operations, and inter-unit transfers.
  • Develop and implement robust processes to ensure seamless trading of goods, enhancing cross-functional collaboration between departments.
  • Monitor and address supply chain risks, ensuring reliable and efficient operations across multiple locations.

Purchase Strategy and Execution

  • Oversee the purchase function, steering the evaluation, and negotiation of machinery, equipment, and materials essential for manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers to secure cost-effective sourcing while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Develop vendor partnerships to ensure timely and reliable access to resources critical for production.

Strategic planning and Innovation

  • Contribute to the formulation of the company’s long-term operational strategy, incorporating market insights, technological advancements, and competitive landscapes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, innovations, and emerging best practices to drive continuous improvement and maintain the company’s competitive edge.

Team Leadership and Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and growth-oriented culture.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and skills development, enabling team members to reach their full potential.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless communication and coordination across different departments.

Candidate Profile

Key Skills

  • Experience of having worked on capability building models.
  • Exposure of managing a Techno-commercial Role; strong decision-making ability
  • Adept at forging strategic partnership & technical tie ups
  • Sound knowledge of Operations and Strategy Management for manufacturing optimization
  • Adept at implementing COE practices
  • Strong financial acumen (good understanding of gross margin, EBITA, PBT); exposure to balance sheet analysis (conversion cost, energy cost, manpower cost)
  • Expertise in cost and asset Optimization; Good understanding of conversion cost, energy cost and manpower cost along with measures to control the same.
  • Business partnering; actively interacting with stakeholders viz. CFO, CHRO, Head – Sales & Marketing.
  • Collaborate closely with the quality assurance function to ensure that products consistently meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations; ensuring quality compliance and statutory norms
  • Demonstrating active participation in day-to-day Supply Chain activities
  • Provide active support to the purchase function; also assisting the senior management in making decisions related to CAPEX
  • Hands-on experience in Industry 4.0
  • Exposure of managing in-house as well as contract manufacturing
  • Ability to take decisions on make and buy
  • Team building & resource optimization with respect to manufacturing operations
  • Sound knowledge of the product life cycle & product costing regimes

Qualification & Experience

  • B. E. /B. Tech (production preferable)
  • MBA (Operations) from a reputed & recognized university/Institute
  • 20+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing industry with intensive exposure to Strategy Management
  • Experience of managing multiple locations
  • Age: Up to 52 years
