Director – Construction

Job Purpose

  • The incumbent would lead a team and would be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) Erection projects, from inception to completion (including planning, budgeting, and managing all project phases). The executive would also be interfacing with internal departments, external suppliers, erectors, subcontractors, clients, and project consultants to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage various aspects of construction projects such as planning, directing, coordinating the activities of workers, selecting contractors, and monitoring performance.
  • Oversee construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring they proceed according to plan. Monitoring progress to ensure efficiency, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness throughout the project.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff ensuring successful project execution.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of multiple professional consultants as they pursue various projects and studies.
  • Review drawings and specifications for capital projects prepared by architectural firms.
  • Periodically audit project documentation ensuring all documents are complete and stored in the department appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations, building regulations, safety regulations, standards/specifications, by-laws, engineering drawings, quality, cost schedules, and project schedules.
  • Periodically monitor actual progress to meet contractually agreed deliverables.
  • Prepare department’s annual budget and monitor closely through champions process/continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives in the department.
  • Implement subcontractors’ selection and evaluation program.

Qualification & Experience:

  • B. Tech (Civil – preferred) and Management degree from a reputed institution.
  • 10-12 years of experience in planning and supervising major construction projects (successfully completed), including large non-residential public works, commercial, industrial, or educational facilities. Must possess or be eligible for professional registration.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing multiple projects from concept to close out.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience managing 3 or more architects or engineering construction.
  • Any Accreditation / Certification / degree in Construction Management or Structures of assets would be preferred.
  • Structural Steel project management experience in execution/construction would be desired.
